Leyland Country House is a luxurious Boutique bed and breakfast set in the heart of the New Forest National Park. It opened its doors to guests in September 2006 and has now gained a reputation as providing some of the best accommodation and service in the area. For this we are very proud.
My background is in Fashion, Interior Design, Marketing, Sales and PR. I began my career in the Fashion Industry, in the last recession in 1990, on the factory floor, despite having qualified as a Fashion Designer. I worked my way up from the bottom to become the youngest Production Manger in the business at 23 years old. I ran 12 factories in the East End of London and 20 million pounds worth of business. I dealt with all types of people from all backgrounds and loved my job.
In 1995 I started a family and my second business as an Interior Designer. This seemed a natural development on from Fashion. I swapped fabric swatches for colour charts and paint pots! After 10 years of Interior Designing and numerous house sales I arrived in Lymington with my 4 children.
The bed and breakfast evolved out of the ashes of my divorce. I found that I could combined all my skills in one and set up a business that used them all, as well as be around for my 4 children. I am passionate about my business, I love the different people, their life stories and all the very funny and amusing things that happen here on a day to day basis. You would be amazed at how interesting your life becomes by running a bed and breakfast!
These skills have been very useful in building my business in to what it is today. I have advised new businesses on how to start a bed and breakfast and existing business on how to improve all aspects of their business to bring them in to a profit. All the business have been very successful and one has actually been selected as one of the top bed and breakfasts in the UK.
Recently, we were invited to appeared on television in the top rated programme ‘3 in a bed’. We were selected from thousands of owners to win a slot on the show and are very delighted with the results.
I was asked to develop a clear, simple and easy course that everyone could complete and learn what they need to run a successful bed and breakfast.
